Back in 2004, about a year before I was set to graduate college, I decided that it would be best for my career and future if I got an internship over the summer instead of working at the local pool and beach as a head lifeguard, as I had done the previous 5 years. On my last day, I was surprised and humbled by my boss with the piece of paper below.
